FAQ

Getting started

Which phones are supported?

Currently only Samsung phones. We are adapting AndroMate to other brands, with priority to Xiaomi (HyperOS) and Google Pixel (native Android). See App Limits.

Which Android versions work?

Android 13 (API 33) or later, tested up to Android 16 (API 36). The phone must have an ARM processor: x86 emulators are not supported.

The install fails with "App not installed", or Play Protect blocks it

AndroMate is not on the Play Store yet, so Play Protect can warn or block the install. Choose Install anyway, or turn off Scan apps with Play Protect and install again. The steps are in Installation.

Do I need Device Owner mode?

No. Start with the normal app. Device Owner is only needed to install applications silently or to lock a phone into kiosk mode. It requires a factory-reset phone with no account, and it can only be removed by another factory reset. See Installation.

How do I add a phone to my project?

Install the app, then register it by scanning the QR code from the portal or by signing in. See Device Registration.

Devices

A device shows Disconnected

Open the app on the phone. On the Home screen, press Refresh to reconnect, and check that the phone has Internet access.

What do the device statuses mean?

Connected means the phone is online and can receive jobs. Disconnected means it is not. The Devices page can filter by status.

Workflows and jobs

Where is the Save button in Studio?

Studio has no Save button in the toolbar. Open the menu (hamburger icon, top left) and click Sauvegarder. See Toolbar & Menu.

Can a workflow be used by several jobs?

Yes. A workflow is attached to a job, and the same workflow can be attached to several jobs.

Which version of a workflow runs?

The latest saved version at the moment the device starts the execution. Saving a workflow after an execution has started does not change that execution. See Run a Workflow.

How do I use a variable in a task?

Declare it on the Start task with a $ prefix, then type $NAME in any text field. See Create a Workflow.

Running jobs

My job stays Pending, then shows Timed out

The phone did not pick the job up, usually because it was disconnected. An execution stuck for more than 60 minutes (by default) is marked timed out. Reconnect the phone and use Retry. See Run a Workflow.

Can I retry a failed execution?

No, only timed out executions can be retried. Read the log on the execution detail page, fix the workflow, and launch the job again.

Can I launch a job on several phones at once?

Yes. Select several devices in the device picker: one independent execution is created per device.

API

How do I launch a job from a script or a CI pipeline?

Generate an API key in API Keys, then call the API. The full key is shown only once. See API Keys and Run a Job.
